Adventures in Burma (Myanmar) Part 1

My husband, Murray, and I had a wonderful, unforgettable experience in December 2015 — a trip to Burma.

We were part of a Grand Circle tour titled, “Burma and the Irrawaddy River,” that included 24 passengers from all over the United States and Canada. We were impressed with the magnificient temples and golden pagodas glimmering in the sun; monks in dark, red robes; the gentle people; women and children with painted faces; and the lush vegetation.

We left Knoxville Tyson airport on Dec. 14, 2015, flew to Detroit, then to Tokyo, Japan, and then to Bangkok, Thailand. After three days in Bangkok, we flew to Rangoon, the old capital of Burma, where we were met by our tour guide, Min Min, and taken to our hotel, the Chatrium Royal Lake Hotel.
