Visit Myanmar 2016 +

Interview with Yangon Heritage Fund founder U Thant Myint U.

Well, to me Myanmar pose more negative than positive, more pessimistic than optimistic for the following reasons and facts.
1) Discrimination continues, even embedded within the 2008 Constitution spawned by the Burmese military.
2) Buddhist Monks interference, domination and controlling the government, people and the country is outrageous creating a power keg explosion within Myanmar in terms of religious conflicts. Myanmar authorities are playing with fire that can bring a nation to chaos.
3) Air pollution is rampant and 3 years from now Yangon will have serious traffic problem and gridlock.
4) Trying to eradicate the growth of Christians and Christianity will backfire Myanmar in the long run. Remember, US does not fully lifted the sanctions and that slows the growth of Myanmar in a very big way.
5) When I visited Myanmar in February, 2016, I saw most of the heritage buildings are too damaged and neglected that it will take a lot of money to refurbished into a decent ones, In other words these buildings of Yangon will be “Black Holes” for money going through in massive amounts with no guaranteed of returns if any. Investors will be very reluctant to invest in a very risky way.
6) Slums are growing everywhere in Yangon and vicinity. Squatters are everywhere and loud speakers and pagodas are everywhere blasting so loud Buddhism doctrines and noisy, dusty and filthy environs. Pagodas are on the beaches, water falls, hills, islands, towns, villages, rocks, boulders, cliffs you name it, it is everywhere creating a psychopathic behavior of Buddhism madness. One cannot get peaceful tranquility on Buddhism doctrine loud speakers blasting your ears off.
7) Since Burmese military take over as coup in 1960s, EVERYTHING goes wrong, Yes EVERYTHING. Myanmar is now 50 years behind to its neighbors and international nations and still the military does not relinquish its grip on governance and state power. The 2008 Constitution guarantees the military supremacy over anything including the civilian government.
From the airplane when I look at Yangon, it is like a village tact community where sky rise, sky rise I mean 100 stories and up (not around 30 stories). Tall skyscrapers lacking and slums like view is mostly everywhere not to mention Yangon International Airport looks like an undeveloped small town airport of US.

So my conclusion is Myanmar still needs a long, long and long way to developed into a modern nation let alone advance. As long as Myanmar stick to old and obsolete ways, manners and culture, Myanmar will always be the follower of other nations and never will be the leader of any region.
This is my feedback after visiting Yangon recently which I cut short my visit 9 days because of unhealthy air pollution and traffic gridlock (takes a whole day in taxis) in downtown Yangon (I stay at downtown INN).

Speaking of Buddhism, it all started with Buddha, an Indian man and India rejects Buddhism and Hindu religion is the main religion of India where Buddha himself was born, died and rejected by India.
By the way, If you want to see Chinese, go to Burma. Chinese everywhere in 2 biggest cities of Burma, Yangon & Mandalay and spread out all over Burma towns and villages. China already swallow Burma 75%.

The under link back up my complaint on visiting Myanmar recently. 9 days cut short is 9 days’ worth of US dollars Myanmar loss from me alone!
http://www.irrawaddy.com/burma/will-bur ... -year.html
Slowdown in tourism Myanmar or at least loss of foreign currency unnecessarily because of ignorance. I don't see much tourists in the Airport either during my visit.

Wishful Thinking:

Wish I can fly from Las Vegas City, USA direct to Myitkyina City, Kachin State, Myanmar with only one stop (plane change) in between. If that really happens, flight time will be cut and save few hours because Myitkyina is much closer to Beijing than Yangon is. To me I see the potential of Kachin State as the most Strategic State of all Myanmar not to mention God had bless Kachin State with abundance of natural wealth and beauty. Right now I fly to Yangon which the traffic is horrible (even with taxis) and air is unclean direct from USA to Myanmar with only one stop (Beijing) China. The only thing I enjoy on the flight is “my flight” program which GPS the plane’s position and tracking all the way from USA to China (vice versa) through the northern route going to Alaska, USA crossing the international date line and enters Russia and then came down south to China/Beijing. I really enjoy that animation of “My Flight” on board! The plane skip or avoid the Arctic Circle territory and fly along America and Russia territories.

Top Ten Largest International Airports of the world 2015-16
1. King Fahd (Saudi Arabia) International Airport
2. Denver (US) International Airport
3. Dallas (US) International Airport
4. Shanghai (China) International Airport
5. Charles De Gaulle (France) International Airport
6. Madrid Barajas (Spain) International Airport
7. Bangkok (Thailand) International Airport
8. Chicago O hare (US) International Airport
9. Cairo (Egypt) International Airport
10. Beijing (China) International Airport

Myanmar has 3 International Airports in the entire country namely
1) Naypyitaw International Airport
2) Yangon International Airport
3) Mandalay International Airport
None of them reached International Standard!
The Buddhist Burmese are implementing a new project that is “suppose to” reach International Standard and that is Hanthawaddy International Airport in Bago Region near Yangon (Projected to be in service 2020).

Personally I like the logo color and design of MAI and hate the logo, color and design of MNA. I will try and avoid MNA as much as possible. Why? Because I see a Buddhist Monk anointing the airplane of MNA in Buddhist rituals which is contrary to my Christian faith. No wonder Buddhist Burmese airlines have few customers and face losses because of their outdated manners.

Revitalizing Rangoon (Yangon)
Finally my feedback and complaint that Yangon (Rangoon) especially downtown area, is NOT healthy living creating unnecessary time lost on traffic jams and dirty environs not to mention the exhaust of old and uncheck black smoke from cars makes the air quality very dangerous for health. No wonder the life span of Burmese cut short because of unhealthy environment issues and problems.

New Government includes a Christian as 2nd Vice President.
The first ever in Burmese history. (My God answer my decades long wish & prayer)

Good move NLD and Good start: (Positive signs)
#1. Conserving the water at the same time cut down unnecessary accidents and abuse in Thingyan is two thumbs up from me to NLD.
#2. Another wonderful news. Kachin Facebook person release from jail by the new government.
#3. The third positive sign is the New Government is going to overhaul a new education system and reinstate the importance of education to the people and the country. Smart and educated people means smart country.
#4. Mobile Tech jumps throughout the nation.
#5. Another problem besides air pollution in Yangon is squatters.

Bravo, I will not only endorse but support the creation of genuine civilian government for futuristic government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
Here is my insight: (3 prong strategy for 21st Century Myanmar)
1) Creation of National Security and Defense Commission
2) Powerful True & Transparent Civilian Governance that oversight the State Affairs in true democratic term. (“True Democratic Term” means the universal democratic principles, policies AND principles must be enforced and adhere)
3) “State Power” stays in the hands of the People of Myanmar.

This is the first time EVER in Myanmar history that a devout Christian is held in one of the high posts (2nd Vice President) in building a Unified Union. My dreams come true.
As a devout Christian myself not only I will participate in feeding feed backs but also giving creative ideas how to improve and change Myanmar into a full blown democratic nation going back to the rightful place of leadership in International stage which she once was.
Power Sharing is OK with me as long as Civilian and Military authorities respect each other had pursue true and genuine democratic values.
Welcome Myanmar (RUM)! New Page for New Dawn has a beginning………………………………Now.
Long Live the Republic!

What about Myanmar Christians?
http://www.irrawaddy.com/burma/nld-reli ... izens.html
Both Houses approved the “State Counselor” position Bill as Law which is designated for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
http://www.irrawaddy.com/burma/lower-ho ... -bill.html
That leaves Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is taking Minister of Foreign Affairs and Counselor to President’s Office (2 Posts in the New Government). The other 2 she rejects are Minister for Energy and Minister for Education.
