Miners in Burma unearthed one of the world’s most valuable pieces of jade on Sunday at a remote mine in Kachin State. Weighing 175 tonnes, the stone is estimated to be worth £140 million. The workers were excavating rare gems when they stumbled across the remarkable stone. The miners will send the boulder to China where it will get carved up into expensive jewellery and sculptures.
“We thought we had won the lottery. But this belongs to the country. It is in honour of our leaders,” Miner Sao Min, 44, told Daily Mail.
